Every year the lines become more and more blurred between automotive and other consumer electronics devices. This was fully in evidence at CES 2018. Here is a tiny cross section of what was on display.

Its built-in circuit breaker cuts off power in less than a tenth of a second when damaging current is detected. The switch resets when the current returns to a normal, safe range. An LED indicator glows green when it is safe to charge and red when a problem is detected. Its “Easy Fit” Lightning connector fits deep into most phone cases.
Inspected to military standard, this chemical, heat and abrasion resistant cable is 50% stronger than most cables, with reinforced stress points tested to sustain 25 pounds and 10,000 bends.
